Professor Stuart J.H. Biddle
Physical activity advisor
Professor of Exercise & Sport Psychology and Head of the School of Sport & Exercise Sciences, Loughborough University, UK, and is affiliated to the School's British Heart Foundation National centre for Physical Activity & Health, and Institute of Youth Sport.
He is:
- Past-President, European Federation of Sport Psychology.
- Distinguished International Scholar Award, Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology (AAASP), 1998.
- Immediate Past and Founding Editor-in-Chief, Psychology of Sport & Exercise (Official Journal of the European Federation of Sport Psychology).
His main research interests include:
- Psychology of physical activity, with particular reference to (a). Motivational influences on physical activity; (b). Understanding physical inactivity; (c). Emotion, well-being, and other psychological outcomes of physical activity.
Stuart has been funded by the British Heart Foundation, SportScotland, Esporta Health Clubs, NHS Health Scotland, Cadbury Trebor Bassett.
He is Director of Project STIL (Sedentary Teenagers and Inactive Lifestyles) and is has been invited to deliver lectures in over 15 countries.
Stuart is married with two children. He plays golf and cycles to workâbut not at the same time!
