Hiding the remote control
The Basics
Activity around the home has dramatically decreased over time due to the increase in ‘time saving’ devices (amazing and useful inventions such as electric can openers and wine bottle openers – the only real use of them is to get you to open your wallet!)
And with the average person watching over 4 hours of TV a day, with so many channels to flick through, hiding the remote control would result in at least several trips to the TV in an evening.
Common Myths, misconceptions and excuses
- “My partner always controls the remote” – If this is the case you can change channels for them too – for once it will be a benefit to you if your partner is one of those infuriating indecisive ‘channel flickers’ types.
Tips & tricks
- Choose 1 or 2 nights a week and make your home a remote control free zone. It’s a good way of getting the kids up and about too.
- Make sure you can change the channels and adjust the volume manually before you try this ‘healthy habit’.
- Ask someone in your family to hide the remote for you – so you can’t cheat.
- If you watch the TV with others, become the appointed ‘TV Switcher’ for the evening
