Getting active around the office – The Basics
Increasing activity does not mean having to visit the gym, run or take up a sport (though all or any would be good for increasing your overall fitness levels).
By gradually introducing a couple of habits listed on the left, into your daily routine, you can increase your daily activity levels without seeing the inside of a gym. And with a little planning and a little effort and motivation, you could see big improvements in your fitness and energy levels
If you’re often tired– exercise can actually help give you more energy. So by increasing your activity during the day – you can benefit from increased activity without the need to formally exercise. Increased activity has many positive effects on you, your body and your energy levels.
Also remember that in many modern offices with air-conditioning it is easy to become dehydrated.
Dehydration is one of the major causes of general tiredness and lack of energy. Keep a small water bottle on your desk or near to hand at home, say 33cl or 500ml. Fill it up in the morning from the water cooler/tap and see if you can drink it by the end of the day.
Slowly build up from drinking a small bottle a day to one bottle by lunch and filling it up again for the afternoon.
